Tom Waits Map
When I was pregnant with my first, I went on a headlong Tom Waits binge that I was sure would fuck up my kid, but was nevertheless unable to stop. This bizarre and charming website maps all the locations mentioned in a Tom Waits song. Given that Tom once said:
"I think all songs should have weather in them. Names of towns and streets, and they should have a couple of sailors. I think those are just song prerequisites."
That's a lot of locations. (The quote was pulled from this interview with Keith Phipps of the AVClub, which is completely fantastic and totally worth a read.) My son is just fine.
