I totally do not get this book. My son, who is 7, picked this up when we were at a local science fiction bookstore because science fiction is totally boring to 7-year-olds, and this has cats in it. Cats! For the fun! He loves this like crazy, and we read it over several nights, much to my discomfort!
Some vocab words I had to define right before bedtime:
Now, I know this is probably not a kid's book, I am not criticizing it for that. It's on me as a parent to vet this stuff, and I did not do that. Moreover, I am not interested in living in a child-proof world, when it comes to books. My real problem is that I can't figure who this book is for. It's not very clever, just a bunch of iterations of photos of cats, with super over-designed text about their "crimes". The authors reuse layouts a couple of times, which seems seriously lazy and lame. Maybe it's a toilet book? A gift book for people who love cats? I don't know; I really don't.
