I was never a D&D person as a kiddo, but I have been playing it recently with the boy. Which is good, because it definitely renders some context to the goofiness of Rat Queens, the things that seem inexplicable out of a D&D context. Which, honestly, is just the very dorkiest way I could have started this review, and stupid of me to boot. Rat Queeeeeeeens!
Rat Queens vol. 2 starts up just after the get-drunk-and-fuck party of the last volume, and there's a lot of morning after shenanigans in the beginning. I don't laugh when I'm reading much -- lol is not a thing for me, either in text or reality -- but there were a couple times I startled the cat. We get a lot more backstory on our Rat Queens, and some really good fighting, fucking, and massive, world killing creatures from the void. So, pretty much the perfect comic on a gorgeous spring morning. Rat Queens is maybe not the deepest, but it's a damn good time.
