I think all of these are based on a book or book series? Sometimes the move from page to screen doesn't go so well. Also, some of these books suck, so it is not a surprise that the movies do too. I actually liked City of Ember and Percy Jackson. Admittedly, my feelings of affection about PJ are mostly about watching some of my favorite character actors slumming - oh Stanley Tucci be still my heart - and not because the movies are, like, good.
Oh, and I caught my husband watching The Host a couple weeks ago, and I was like, you know that's Stephenie Meyer, right? He did not. William Hurt and Frances Fisher, no!
