I enjoyed the second outing of the League, but this one felt a little more like series of Victorian shout-outs, and maybe that's the point. The plot was a serious retread, something one could see coming a thousand miles away. Some people get redeemed, other people walk off in disgust. Meh. I love the opening bit on Mars; it was rich and colorful, and more fully rendered than the usual "look, the bad guys are serious motherfuckers" sequences. Hyde has a nice monologue while the Invisible Mans blood becomes visible like a daguerreotype. Yikes. Dr. Moreau felt kind of tossed in.
Still fun to read, subversive as hell, and kinda sick. Enjoy!
